About Us

We are a team of problem solvers committed to supporting ocean-based businesses, communities and ecosystem health through the practical application of technology

Who We Are

What We Value

The Ocean is our ultimate stakeholder.

Sustainability drives our decisions. Reliability and durability are essential. We do what we do because we are deeply invested in the ocean. We take initiative as individuals and as a team because we are solving an important problem with impact on both global climate health and local livelihoods

Technology is a bridge.

Technology can connect different stakeholders (for example fishers, regulators and community residents) to support win/win outcomes. Technology enables informed decision making and insights that create value.

We are always learning.

We tackle important problems with open minds. We listen more than we tell. We actively seek out new perspectives from our customers, industry partners and each other. We have the courage and humility to ask hard questions. We value diversity of background and experience

How We Got Here

Most fishers are using the same old gear

their great grandparents used – setting buoys, marking the location on a chart or notebook and hoping that it stays there until they return. After realizing this dynamic was bigger than just our local Dungeness crab fishery, we embarked on what became a 5 year-mission in 2016 to design and develop a product that would be a ‘find my keys’ for fishing gear.

We built way more than a beacon

In the process of designing a product to track crab pots in the North Pacific we created a robust sensored buoy with the ability to deliver real time gear monitoring anywhere, anytime, from almost any device.  We launched our first commercial product in early 2021 and have continued to improve our product suite since, deploying buoys with fishers, aquaculture farmers and scientists around the world.
